Meet me at the marsh

A reparative linear park for the community

Planning studio project in Revere, MA

Team members: Ariella Amit & Fatima Tajammal

From 03/2024 to 05/2024

Rumney Marsh in Revere, MA, once an expansive and ecologically rich salt marsh, has been diminished by decades of industrial development, landfilling, and infrastructure, leaving nearby communities largely disconnected from the marsh. Meet Me at the Marsh proposes a flood-resilient linear park that reconnects residents to Rumney Marsh while addressing climate risk. The design integrates a walkable flood protection berm, marsh restoration, and accessible trail networks, alongside community-focused programming such as a Marsh Experiential Learning Center, food garden, and public gathering spaces.

I led the development of our team’s visual storytelling approach, using a children’s storybook–inspired illustration style to help the community imagine a long-term, uncertain future. Rather than presenting a fixed outcome, this approach visualizes possibilities for a reparative relationship between people and the marsh. In addition, I contributed to the project’s historical research, spatial analysis, and narrative development.
