Power Reimagined

A workshop about speculative energy futures for Bostonians

Energy planning studio project in Boston, MA

Team members: Sophia Su & Ariella Amit

From 10/2025 to 12/2025

What if the renewable energy transition were approached not as a technology problem, but as a relationship problem? “Power Reimagined” investigates the costs of our world’s growth-oriented relationship with energy, through maps revealing the extractive nature of both renewable and nonrenewable energy sources, and 3D-printed models illustrating the embodied energy of everyday objects. Concurrently, speculative drawings and artifacts envision a future world centered on care and collective stewardship.

These investigative and speculative elements are brought together through a workshop. This is led by an imagined nonprofit called Reimagine Power Boston, which we visualized as part of a national network of mobilized advocates for energy democracy. In the workshop, community members work together to better understand the realities of our energy system, and to collectively imagine alternative, non-extractive energy futures.
